PruneAlthough primarily praised for their mild laxative effects, prunes and prune juice also contain antioxidants to help fight disease-causing free radicals. Prunes and prune juice contain a sugar alcohol called sorbitol, which metabolizes slowly, to aid in the proper digestion of foods.
